Nhlanhla Prince Malinga, born in Soweto, moved to Thembisa at the age of 7. After he matriculated, he studied graphic design; however, due to a lack of funds, he had to drop out. With a little background in graphic design, Nhlanhla started designing a lot of concept ideas, cars, sneakers, clothes and even the wall at his mother’s place. He’s been drawing ever since he can remember.

“Later, I joined the labour market to earn a living like everyone else. I would prefer not to mention names of institutions, companies and individuals. However, after my employment at this package company, I joined the union, and I was a very active member and a union rep. I felt like I found myself in a union, and it made me forget about my art for a while. However, in 2022, God had other plans for me. I lost my job, a very devastating period of my life, with no tangible qualifications, and job hunting wasn’t part of my plans. When my world falls apart, it’s my Art that gives me hope and comfort,” he explains.

Malinga’s business is called Clearva Designs, under which is the sneaker brand called Bozza, a new kid on the block with a peculiar approach. “Bozza reflects a strong, resilient grootmaan/sester (regardless of age) ekasi who is determined to achieve their goals and dreams regardless of life’s challenges,” he says. Bozza is targeting those boss kasi boys and girls, those who are conscious about what they wear and want to go local. If this is you, then Bozza is your sneaker of choice.

“At this stage, I only have one sneaker, which comes only in black and white. Due to a lack of funds, I’m still struggling to produce a variety of designs. I promise everyone out there, with your support, Bozza is here to stay, and a lot is yet to come, ” Nhlanhla tells his clients.

Anyone who is interested in buying my sneakers can check out my Facebook and Instagram, Nkosana Malinga. Bozza sneakers are R1200 for the first 200 clients. On order, a deposit of R600 will be paid, and the balance can be paid on terms of the client’s comfort and affordability.
