In Ivory Park, 2 suspects were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. On Friday, 2025/08/29 at about 14:00, members of Ekurhuleni District Crime Intelligence received information regarding two suspects who attempted to rob a Pakistani-owned shop in Kaalfontein, driving in a grey Honda Ballade.
The information was liaised with Ivory Park Crime Prevention members regarding the suspects, and an intelligence-driven operation was quickly conducted. The team came across the suspect’s vehicle at Kaalfontein, opposite one of the churches. Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, members found a 9mm Z88 Pistol with the serial number filled off, with a magazine and 6 live ammunition. The two suspects were arrested and taken to SAPS Ivory Park for detention to face their charges.
In addition, 189 Suspects were arrested for various offences from Friday, 2025-08-29 to Sunday, 2025-08-31 morning by members of law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders during Operation Shanela 2 conducted across Ekurhuleni Policing Precincts, with unlicensed firearms removed from the streets. Amongst others, 137 were nabbed by the Detectives during their suspect raiding operations, which include (83) for contact Crimes, (14) for contact-related Crimes, (29) for other serious Crimes, (17) for Gender based Violence and (6) for property Crime.Other suspects were nabbed for crimes such as possession of drugs, drunk and driving, theft of cable and illegal immigrants.
