Under the theme ‘Collaborative Approaches to Municipal Service Delivery’, on Friday, 05 September 2025, Executive Mayor Ald Nkosindiphile Xhakaza addressed delegates at the 4th IMATU Gauteng Regional Conference.

Held in #Benoni#CoEMayor Xhakaza said that it is a time when demands on municipalities are high and the solutions must be based on partnership, accountability and a common vision for the future.

He delved into service delivery progress in #CoE:
– Reducing water interruptions
– Improving waste collection
– Creating an enabling environment for investment and job creation.

“Municipal service delivery is inherently complex and inherently local – it touches people’s daily lives more directly than any other level of government.” – Mayor Xhakaza. These cannot be delivered in isolation but through collaboration across the private sector, civil society and community structures, he added.

The City says it is guided by 6 pillars
– Quality and sustainable services
– Rebuild a strong financial base
– Essential repairs and maintenance
– Strategic infrastructure in partnership with the private sector
– Economic growth focused on Aerotropolis and the revitalisation of the manufacturing sector
– Good and ethical governance.
