Bhekiwe Motloung from the Leboeng Section of Thembisa is self-employed and is the owner of Bhekzo’s Kitchen. Situated at 268 Letsiekarara Street next to the Leboeng Ground, Bhekzo’s Kitchen sells fast food including kotas, burgers, sandwiches, chicken wings, chips, ice cream, and soft drinks. Motloung started her business three years ago with a meager income of R300 and the business has been growing slowly but surely.
As her business grows, she has managed to employ a few helping hands. Bhekzo’s Kitchen is open weekdays from 10:30 to 20:00 and from 11:00 to 22:00 on the weekends. They close only on not so busy days.”I was inspired by my craft of food I make and seeing how fast foods are a target out there.
I wanted to try out different styles of trending kotas, dagwoods, chillie chips, and kota burgers, they’re really selling.”, Bhekiwe explains. With her target market made up of school kids and basically everyone in the community who loves fast food, Bhekzo’s Kitchen prices start from R20, soft drinks
