SHOOTING AT INXIWENI PRIMARY SCHOOOL

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) said it is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, at Inxiweni Primary School in Thembisa, where the school principal and an administrative staff member were fatally shot inside the school’s administrative block. It is alleged that the incident occurred at around 17:00 at the school while the Principal (a 58-year-old woman), the administrator (a 55-year-old woman), and other colleagues were reportedly preparing for a meeting scheduled to be held later this week.

It is reported that the colleagues in a nearby office suddenly overhead gunshots. Fearing for their own safety, the colleagues hid until the gunshots subsided. When they emerged, they found the Principal and the administrator lying in the passage of the admin block.
