IAGO BnWM RISING TO THE GLOBAL STAGE

Lucky Mazibuko, aka “IAGO BnWM, is a 34-year-old music producer and DJ. He was born in Soweto, but has lived most of his life in Thembisa. His love for music started at a very early age.

He used to listen to his mother’s music collection. “She had a very beautiful music collection that had artists like abo Vuyo Mokoena, Brenda Fassie, Rebecca Malope, Yvonne Chaka-Chaka, just to name a few. Then, when I was in grade 7 (2003), I had a friend who taught me AUTOMIX. His name is DJ Kwame SA ( Kwame Nkrumah Mahlanga),” he said. In 2004, he met two important people who changed his life: DJ Makhosonke & DJ Nathi, who introduced him to CDJs & Vynals. That’s when he really started his journey as a DJ,Around 2008/2009, he met the late Zniko Ndaba, who gave him his first big break.

IAGO BnWM was the youngest resident DJ at Zniko Lounge, which was one of the very popular spots in Thembisa. This is where he played for three or four years.”I was inspired by the whole Soul Candy crew, the likes of DJ Claude, DJ Kent, Euphonic, DJ Mbuso, DJ Fresh, etc. My favourite genre is Good Music, but if I were to choose, I’d say Deep & Soulful, Deep Tech, Afro Tech, 3Step & Afro House Music,” he says of his inspiration.IAGO BnWM has released 1 EP, “My Antidote”, under his belt on all DSPs, but unofficially, he has released more than 20 tracks under his belt and is planning to release more music next year.In his work, he has collaborated with the likes of Coco SA, Elementicsoul, TimADeep, AcMusiQ, Paul B SA, Sintu Ndzube, Freak SA, QubiqueSmall, AlexSir SA, Snare Ncalu, Baantu ZA, Deejay Scooby & Dj Maweja, Dj Welcome, Lapie, Goba, Sir ToniQ, ReBranded, KillaTronixx & 8nine Musique.

“My future plan is to groom my own artists, producers & DJs. Try to open doors for them where I can motivate them to stay focused on their craft & health. More than anything else, I want to grow my collaboration list, make sure I’m with all my favourite artists and producers. I have remained in the game for this long without using anyone along the way, nor losing my morals for the sake of fame,” he concluded.@milksupplier_sa
