RABIE RIDGE RAPIST SENTENCED TO 6 LIFE TERMS

On 5 September 2025, Noko Peter Phukubye, aged 23, was found guilty and sentenced to six (6) life imprisonment and 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances by the Johannesburg High Court.

This comes after the victim stated that on Sunday, 2018/11/18 at about 02h00, in the early hours of the morning, she was with her boyfriend on their way to the boyfriend’s home when they were attacked by a group of five to six men. They assaulted the boyfriend, and they all raped the victim.

Thereafter, they left them and went away with the victim’s cellphone. The boyfriend was severely injured on the head. He was taken to the clinic, where he was certified dead on arrival. The case was registered at Rabie Ridge SAPS and assigned to Detective Sergeant Mafufuwe Lesford Magwale (pictured above) of the Tembisa Family Violence and Child Protection Services and Sexual Offences Unit.

Later, the accused, Noko Phukubye, was identified by means of DNA and leads from another docket where he committed a crime in January 2017. The accused was arrested and denied bail until he was sentenced.
