MAJAKATHATA PRESENTS 6th PRIMARY SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT The Majakathata Social Scheme will host its 6th anniversary of the Thembisa Primary Schools Tournament for both soccer and netball. The event will be held on Heritage Day, 24 September 2025. Eight schools have been invited to take part in the upcoming tournament, including Moriting Primary School, Tlamatlama Primary, Winnie Mandela Primary, Reagile Primary, Madibatlou Primary, Legora Primary, Lindelani Primary, and Edleen Primary Schools. The winners will pocket a prize of R12,500 each for the netball and soccer games, respectively, as well as medals. The Player of the Tournament Award will also be at hand for each sporting code. Majakathata is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that was founded in February 2016 by a group of friends who grew up in Winnie Mandela Park. The games kick off at 08:00 with tickets costing R50 for parents, R20 for learners, while entry is free for participants.”To overcome all ills and challenges which enervate and weaken youth development through caring for one another in the community,” says the Majakathata Social Scheme vision statement. Their mission is to promote social responsibility amongst fellow man and to raise the kids together for a future that all long for.The NPO’s community outreach initiatives include providing school uniforms and shoes to the less fortunate, providing monthly grocery packages to the needy households in the community, and sponsoring soccer and netball kits. They also provide a conducive learning environment by holding spelling bees, novel storytelling competitions, and play areas. Sanitary pads are also provided to those who cannot afford them.
