SUSPECT BEHIND BARS FOLLOWING MULTIPLE CHARGES IN THEMBISA

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Eastern Region Task Team Officers intercepted a suspect allegedly involved in an attempted murder, hijacking and robbery in Thembisa. Following an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, where a female driver of a courier bakkie was shot during a robbery and goods worth R18 000 were stolen. Officers, in conjunction with other stakeholders, worked tirelessly to nab the perpetrators. One of the suspects was arrested and also found in possession of a minibus taxi as an accessory to the crime.

The suspect was detained at the Thembisa Police Station and is expected to appear at the Magistrate’s Court soon. More arrests are imminent, as three suspects remain at large, said the EMPD in a statement.
