SNAZZY B: THEMBISA’S HIPHOP VOICE

Bulelani Christopher Xokiso, popularly known as “Snazzy B”, is a rap artist from Thembisa who picked up his creative talents from his parents, Ntombikho and Menezi Nelson Xokiso. The 34-year-old songwriter and performer grew up surrounded by people who loved music. “I grew up listening to the likes of Brenda Fassie a lot in my house, then my cousin introduced me to Hip Hop. He played a lot of Eminem and Tupac. Fast forward, when I was in high school, I was listening to Pro Kid and Teargas, and I would imitate them till I saw that I could also do what they do. Then I started writing my own raps,” explains Snazzy B.

He says he was influenced by Pro Kid, Teargas and HHP as they used the vernacular in their raps, and they rapped about things he also knew as a kid growing up in Thembisa. Snazzy B is a fully independent artist and not signed to any record label. To date, he has released 7 projects (EPs and Mixtapes) and more than 10 singles. He has worked with a lot of talented people, including his long-time producer “Friendly” , Syper , Novex , Frank Casino , Touchline , Mabz , UNCLENERO , Melanie Deep, just to name a few . He writes his own music and also believes in the spirit of collaboration, so when he is in the studio and someone is sharing an idea that can make his line even better, he can accept that contribution.

“One of my biggest achievements was performing in packed stadiums, sharing stages with the biggest artists in South Africa, like opening up for Cassper Nyovest. Also, my “Abekho Freestyle” reached over 1 million views across all social media platforms and was named “Artist to look for in 2024” by Kreative Korner, he tells The Olifants.”My plan right now is to keep dropping music. I have a single coming up titled “Nyuka”, and I’m very excited about that one. It features “PRO CHXLD” From Cape Town and was produced by “Novex”. I want to continue to push the Snazzy B merchandise and bring back my show “The Snazzy B Show”, which I started in 2016 with my DJ/business partner “Minora,” he concludes.
